Accessibility Statement
Accessibility Statement
We're committed to making our programs welcoming and accessible to everyone. We believe tabletop roleplaying and community programs should be open to people of all abilities, backgrounds, and experiences, and we work to remove barriers wherever we can.
Our Commitment
Accessibility is an ongoing process, not a checkbox. We aim to:
-
Make our programs, workshops, and events as inclusive as possible
-
Communicate clearly about what each program involves so participants can decide what works for them
-
Welcome feedback and adapt our approach as we learn
-
In-Person Programs
When we run sessions in partnership with libraries, community spaces, or other venues, we do our best to choose locations that are physically accessible. If you're planning to attend a program and have specific access needs (mobility, sensory, dietary, or otherwise), please let us know in advance and we'll work with you to make it happen.
We can often accommodate:
-
Quiet or low-stimulation breaks during sessions
-
Flexible seating arrangements
-
Adjustments to game pacing, content, or group size
-
Support persons attending alongside a participant at no extra cost
Tabletop Roleplaying Accessibility
D&D and tabletop games can involve reading, math, social interaction, and imaginative play, which may present different kinds of barriers. Our facilitators are experienced in adapting sessions to support participants of varying reading levels, communication styles, and comfort with group play. We're happy to discuss specific accommodations before a program begins.
We also use content tools (like session zero conversations and safety mechanics) to make sure participants feel comfortable with the themes and tone of the game.
Digital Accessibility
We work to make our online presence (website, social media, registration forms, email communications) as accessible as possible. We aim to follow recognized accessibility guidelines, including:
-
Clear, plain-language writing
-
Descriptive alt text on images where possible
-
Readable fonts and good colour contrast in our promotional materials
We know we don't always get this right, and we're continuing to learn and improve.
Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
As an organization operating in Ontario, we're committed to meeting our obligations under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). This includes providing accessible customer service, communications, and program experiences.
Feedback
If you've encountered a barrier with our programs, website, or communications, or if you have suggestions for how we can do better, we genuinely want to hear from you. Email us at info@mindforgeplay.org and we'll respond as quickly as we can.
We can also provide this statement, registration materials, or other documents
in alternative formats on request.
